Necessity — Book 3
Tom Conrad is no longer the man on the factory floor.
The house in the desert is real. The women in it stayed after they were given the chance to leave. The rings on his hand are no longer a secret he can keep only from himself. Vegas does not care how carefully a life was built. It only cares that the lights are on, the rooms are full, and something in the city has begun to look back at him.
What follows is not the first taste of power. It is the harder work of living with it. Invitations arrive that he did not wish for. Rooms open that were never supposed to know his name. A side street waits for a door, a crowd, and a rule spoken out loud. The household he asked to choose him now has to meet the world he is becoming… the noise of it, the hunger of it, the way a city can turn a private life into a public fact before a man has decided he is ready.
Tom has to decide, again, what he will take and what he will wait to be offered. He has already learned that a snap can rewrite a night. Book 3 asks whether he can keep refusing to rewrite a person. Whether the decency that first answered him still holds when the rooms get larger, the faces get famous, and the easy version of forever sits closer than it used to.
Necessity — Book 3 continues the story of ordinary endurance meeting extraordinary opportunity. It is a book about a life that can no longer stay small, about desire that still has to be honest, and about the difference between a wish that rearranges a night and a choice that rearranges a future. It explores power tempered by heart, loyalty that has to survive daylight, heat that does not apologize for its intensity, and the fragile, necessary work of building something real when the world has finally tilted in his favor… and then tilted again.
Some doors open only once. Others open because someone on the other side remembered him before the world agreed he was worth remembering.
Tom Conrad is about to find out which kind this is.
The third chapter of his new life begins here.
