The series ends here. The staying does not.

The pit has taken what the city would not. The hut has a floor that keeps growing. The wall has a door that only opens from the inside. Mark is still the hinge: watch, hunt, build, take what is offered without turning it into a claim the jungle would recognize. Carla is gold hair and coffee she still hates. Ritzz is kit and high roads and a daughter the circles threw first. Lisa is copper and tags that should have been a chain. The living column is no longer a rumor.

Then a blue coat learns thank you and watch and puts a sergeant’s thunder in a pair that thought a wall was meat.

Then a red pelt walks a city roof and spends family on a table that once said unwanted.

Then the sky drops a rock too fast for hands.

Magenta. A debt from another dirt. A code that is not rescue. Three more names who already know there is no up. Solar on a roof that used to be bronze. A hostile sent so a father cannot turn a house into a war.

Years happen the way boards happen.

Children in a loft. Chocolate at a gate. A skull on a wall. Peace that still has teeth. Command asking for fifty more rocks and calling it a colony. A square that will accept the names if the five leagues hold and the far side takes the spreading.

He was tired when the dart shook.

He is tired in a different way now.

She was thrown when the ceiling was all she had.

She sleeps in a house that learned her color was never a tax.

The sky still has hands.

The jungle still does not ask.
